The first Oceanwalker S60e is expected to hit the seas in April 2026

The idea of a solar-electric catamaran is no longer that revolutionary—Silent and Sunreef unveiled such multihulls in 2024 and 2023, respectively—but that hasn’t stopped Revolution Marine Group from jumping on the emissions-free bandwagon.

The Florida-based firm announced a new solar-electric cat on Monday, catering to the growing demand for cleaner, greener alternatives in the yachting industry. Created by the group’s brand Oceanwalker, the 60-footer combines the latest sustainable technologies with an elegant dual-hull design.

Christened the Oceanwalker S60e, the newcomer is the solar-electric successor to the diesel-electric hybrid Oceanwalker S60 that was presented in April. Powered by twin 150 kW (200 hp) motors, the newcomer can traverse the seas near silently at a top speed of up to 12 knots and a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. The group didn’t say how far the S60e could travel on electricity alone, but says seafarers can use the two 45 kW diesel generators to cover up to 800 nautical miles if desired.

The yacht is also equipped with an impressive 10 kW solar array that uses energy from the sun to power the hotel load, giving yachters the ability to spend long periods at sea without having to rely on traditional power sources. The group says the built-in lithium phosphate batteries provide enough juice for all onboard amenities, including air-conditioning, electric cooking, and laundry facilities. Revolution didn’t share any details regarding interior layout, but the Oceanwalker S60 can be configured with three or four cabins.

The first unit is currently under construction at the Fujian Sky Walker shipyard in Zhangzhou, China, with delivery expected in April 2026. “Our engineering experts are closely overseeing every stage of the build process to ensure the highest standards of quality, performance, and durability,” Revolution Marine Group CEO Edward Sacks said in a statement. “While we are delighted with the introduction of our initial solar electric catamaran, we continue to focus on staying ahead of the market when it comes to new and innovative technologies.”

The inaugural yacht will be delivered to the club at Club Ki’ama Bahamas. Located on Elizabeth Island near Great Exuma, this new, exclusive destination describes itself as “the world’s first solar-powered, shared-ownership yacht and residence club.” It will comprise futuristic solar-powered oceanfront residences, as well as a fleet of solar-powered yachts.

“Club Ki’ama Bahamas is beyond excited to make the very first Oceanwalker S60e available to our owners,” said managing partner John Long. “This elegant, fully electric, solar yacht perfectly complements our sustainably constructed, solar-powered Club residences.”

The best part is that Sacks says a larger Oceanwalker cat is “coming soon.” Stay tuned for more details.
