Heesen Unveils a New 180-Foot Superyacht

Want some readily available water transport for the summer? If so, Heesen’s new 180-foot Project Agnetha, with a gorgeous interior by Italian designer Luca Dini, should float your boat. The Dutch yard just launched its latest 55-meter steel series vessel, noting it’s ready to be delivered in the next few months. That’s a much shorter wait than the typical two to three years for most semi-custom superyachts.

The Frank Laupman–designed hull and superstructure is defined by large expanses of tinted glass on the main and upper decks. The design also did away with conventional fashion plates, so the superstructure has no structural pillars, increasing its flow and supersizing the sea views from just about anywhere on board.

The Luca Dini Design interior isn’t radical or particularly groundbreaking, but its warm-toned woods, paint and other decor evoke the feeling of being home.

The interior has six staterooms, with the owner’s stateroom on the main-deck forward. The owner’s suite has his-and-her bathrooms and dressing rooms as well as a terrace on the starboard side. Four guest cabins are on the lower deck, and the VIP suite is up on the bridge deck offering exceptional views. The crew of 13 sleeps in seven cabins.

The 55 has Heesen’s Fast Displacement hull, which offers speed and fuel efficiency. With its twin 8V400 MTU M63 diesels, the boat has a top end of 15.5 knots. At 13 knots, it has a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles.

The 55M Steel series has been one of Heesen’s biggest successes since the Dutch builder introduced it in 2013. It continues to evolve. Part of its speculative-build process, Heesen begins the build process and then buyers enter at various stages. The earlier, the more potential for customization. “Over the past decade, we have focused on excellence and have achieved it, developing and refining the platform while optimizing our supply chain and creating strategic collaborations with suppliers,” said Niels Vaessen, Heesen CEO in a statement. That’s code for owners not being caught in a supply-chain crossfire and having to wait many months for their boat.

Heesen has launched two 55-meters so far this year. Solemates was delivered to its owner, while Serena was launched in January. If you have about $62 million burning a hole in your pocket, this beautiful new yacht could be for you.
