The first Princess X95 yacht has been spotted undertaking sea trials off the coast of Plymouth.

It comes after British builder Princess launched the 29 metre motor yacht in February. Described by Princess as "a luxury SUV of the seas", the X95 is the first model in Princess's X Class.

Designed in partnership with Italian sportscar designer Pininfarina and British naval architect Olesinski, the X95 "Super Flybridge" aims to redefine traditional yacht architecture with extensive outdoor space and an open plan interior.

According to Princess, "both her flybridge and main deck cover almost the full length of the yacht, delivering expansive spaces with flexibility that enables you to define each journey around your guests’ preferences". More specifically, the flexible Princess X95 model offers 10% more outdoor space and 40% more indoor space than a “traditional” motor yacht of the same size.

Executive chairman Antony Sheriff previously said: “The X95 breaks the mould of traditional yacht design. The unique open plan architecture is brought to life through our design partnership with the legendary styling house Pininfarina.

Sheriff added: “This leap forward in space and versatility mirrors recent innovations from luxury automotive brands who have developed crossover models.”

The X95 has also been crafted for far-reaching, adventurous voyages, thanks to a high fuel capacity of 13,400 litres.

The unveiling of the Princess X95 model follows the launch of the R35 performance sports yacht last year. The 10.89 metre R35 was designed with America’s Cup technical experts Ben Ainslie Racing Technologies (BAR Technologies) and Pininfarina.
