An Azimut S6 is taking centre stage in New York’s iconic Times Square as part of an art installation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Azimut Benetti Group.

The 18-metre yacht, the largest the square could accommodate, is being presented in the heart of Times Square from June 7 – 11. The event is being held in partnership with Design Pavilion and NYCxDesign, bringing together the worlds of art, yachting and design.

The installation follows a talk on innovations in sustainability at the NASDAQ Impact Summit held on May 13, with a second talk exploring the relationship between design and art held the following day.

As part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, Azimut Yachts have also launched an international competition for young designers who have been tasked with designing a 10-metre day cruiser.

As part of the competition, designers are asked to propose either the external lines of the yacht with in-board engines, the living area layout or the interior design.

The winner of the competition will be announced in December and win a three-month internship at Azimut.

Following New York, the Azimut S6 will be installed in a number of other major cities, including Hong Kong, Cap D’Antibes, and finally to Azimut’s Avigliana headquarters.
