BlackCat Superyachts has unveiled the design of a new 35m multihull yacht. BlackCat 35 is the second in the BlackCat superyacht range pencilled by Malcolm McKeon. The new design joins BlackCat 50m introduced in April last year.
“After launching the BlackCat 50m model in 2016 it became apparent that the market appetite for a high-quality superyacht multihull is rapidly growing. The BlackCat 35 offers the same characteristics of style and performance in this smaller model,” says BlackCat founder Mitch Booth.
The 35m (114ft) BlackCat is built completely from carbon fibre. She has been designed to perform exceptionally well under sail and will be extremely fuel efficient when run by motor, the company claims.
The yacht boasts beam of 14m, which equates a deck space that is substantially larger than an equivalent length monohull. She provides accommodation in six cabins for up to eight guests and a crew of four.
Volume and speed
The builder says the new BlackCat 35 provides the advantages of fast cruising on a multihull. The yacht is said to be capable of cruising at 20 knots and reaching a maximum speed of 32 knots, with a low heel angle and platform stability. “These key features make the BlackCat 35m an attractive alternative for any owner considering a 40m-45m monohull,” the company says in a statement adding that each design can be customised to meet the owner’s need.
The cost analysis of the BlackCat 35 is now complete and, the metre-to-metre cost comes in below that of a carbon fibre monohull of the same volume, the builder claims.
