The first Underwater Museum in the Mediterranean will be created in Ayia Napa

A unique project will be created in Ayia Napa, the first Underwater Museum in the Mediterranean by the world-known artist Jason DeCaires Taylor.

The project will be presented by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Yiannis Karousos, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Costas Kadis, the officer of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research and Project Co-ordinator, Mr. Giorgos Bayadas and the British artist Jason DeCaires Taylor on Friday, June 14th 10:45 at the POED headquarters in Nicosia.

The Underwater Museum will be created in the Ayia Napa Municipality and more precisely at the Pernera beach and it will be the first underwater sculpture Museum in the Mediterranean. In an underwater space 10m deep, the British artist will create over 70 underwater statues and will prepare dozens of organic trees and underwater plants, in order to create the first underwater forest in the world!

The project of the Underwater Museum is included in the list of projects that have been agreed on the growth of the Ayia Napa Municipality and is expected to become a global attraction, serving the purpose of the upgrade and differentiation of the tourism product of Ayia Napa.
