Nemo 50 Ice explorer superyacht is a new ambitious concept, which is under development by a French shipyard OCEA in collaboration with Italian designer Fulvio De Simoni, designed for the most tough conditions in the world. The concept will be built with the ability to sail in Arctic and Antarctica, fully complying with Ice Class requirements.

 

An ideal yacht to explore places, such as the Drake Channel or the Cuverville Island with its dark rocky mountains or the astonishing Danco Island, she will be equipped to carry tenders, rigid hulled inflatable boats and landing crafts. It will be also equipped with dedicated handling equipment such as specialized military style davits for retrieving them.

 

 

This 499GT concept features an important design solution - a technical area located forward on the raised deck, also intended to accommodate the hiking equipment. Tenders can be accessed by guests quickly and safely. Another key feature is that the shafts, propellers and two rudders are integrated into dedicated structural skegs, which will protect them from hitting iceberg or other objects.

 

 

The guests accommodation area has been designed in order to maximize guests’ comfort during long stays on board: the owner’s apartment – a full-width design covering the fore portion of the main deck – houses a private lounge which can be used either as a relaxation corner or as a study area, should one need working aboard. There is a spacious bathroom where even a large sauna can be incorporated.

 

 

Both the workshop and control room are directly connected to the crew quarters which are described as “large, efficient and comfortable.” Ocea is currently building several military ships, with the largest 85-metre project being built from all aluminium for military purposes.
