Cantiere delle Marche shares new details on third Flexplorer 146

Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has shared more details of the third Flexplorer 146 currently under construction at the Italian shipyard under the project name Nasarda.

Commissioned by a "young and enthusiastic" American owner, she is the third in a trio of Flexplorer 146 models currently in build and bears a close resemblance to the Maverick, the first in the series. The two yachts share an exterior profile by Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec with an extended wheelhouse and crow's nest, but the owner of this particular model chose Winch Design for the interior.

The British design studio has created an eco-friendly interior for the third Flexplorer 146 with earthy colours, matte surfaces and organic textures. ‘Green’ materials are used throughout including reclaimed seashell composite, eggshell finishes, Foresso, recycled fishing nets, woven grass and Thames wood. Standout features include a "green living wall" made from preserved moss, while reclaimed seashell composite will be used throughout the bathrooms, carpets will be made from recycled fishing nets and palm leather will be applied to furnishings.

The layout was also tailored to cater to the wishes of its owner. Accommodation is split across three decks with six cabins for guests and another six for crew. Three guest cabins are found on the main deck comprised of two twins and a convertible large double cabin that can be transformed into a homeschooling room or studio as needed. The master suite is positioned on an owner's deck and benefits from a private stern terrace as well as a forward lounge area, which is home to one of two cold plunge pools on board.

The Flexplorer line is defined by a forward-set superstructure making way for a large utility deck, which will carry a 10-metre custom tender, crew tender and two jet skis, launched and recovered by a four-tonne A-frame crane. Once launched, the area transforms into an open-air lounging, dining and entertainment space.

The Flexplorer 146 will be powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines delivering a top speed of 14 knots and a range of 6,500 nautical miles when travelling at 10 knots. This particular model will also have an IMO Tier III-compliant selective catalytic reduction, allowing her to navigate in marine protected areas and sanctuaries such as the Galapagos. The interior out-fitting contractor has also been carefully selected based on its carbon-neutral business model. Meanwhile, two pairs of electro-driven stabilising fins offer comfortable cruising and improve seakeeping.

Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and sales and marketing director of CdM, said the secret to the success of the series was its ability to deliver "full flexibility".

"In the 100/150 feet market, customisation is a much-abused word and behind the ‘winning’ formula the reality is that the owner can just choose veneers, fabrics and a few minor items. We decided to stress the customisation to the limit offering our international clientele a concept within which each owner can build together with us his own Flexplorer," he said.

The first Flexplorer 146 unit was sold in November 2020 under the name Maverick and another model was sold in November 2021.
