This is the streamlined, two-person watercraft that breaches and submerges just like the Orcinus orca after which it is designed. It is giving wealthy adventure-seekers a taste of what it’s like to zip through the water like a killer whale.The killer whale inspired Seabrecher Y created by New Zealand-based company Innespace.

The design features resemble that of a real killer whale, including a more rounded off nose, large whale tail, new pectoral fins, and a taller dorsal fin. The larger modified tail fin was added to help in achieving a full 180 degree back flip.  The company even offers riding pegs and a handlebar attachment to allow for a stunt man to ride on the back and perform tricks. The killer whale model is ideal for putting on live shows and attractions due to it's life like resemblance of a real orca.

The Y comes standard with a 255-hp supercharged Rotax axial flow engine, but the one in this picture cranks out 300 horsepower and can reach speeds of 55 miles per hour across the water's surface. It can hydroplane up to 50 mph over the water's surface. This custom-made two-seater, which costs $86,000, can cruise up to 25 mph while submergedbe and can be launched 16 feet into the air when breaching. Although this is the first killer-whale-inspired boat, Innespace has built previous models inspired by sharks and dolphins.

"Most of those who buy our vessels are wealthy eccentric people that love obscure toys and adrenaline sports," said Innespace co-owner Rob Innes . "Many aren't even boat enthusiasts. However, we make sure all pilots are trained so they know how to operate the vessel."

"It doesn't seem scary from the outside, but it's completely different on the inside as you are submerged underwater and then propel high above the surface — there’s nothing like it," Innes said.

A pilot protected beneath its watertight 1/2"-thick acrylic canopy pushes and pulls twin control levers to articulate the whale's pectoral fins for rolls and stealthy dives. With a finger on the right lever's throttle trigger, steering is provided by dual foot pedals that control the vectored thrust of the craft's engine, enabling realistic behaviors such as porpoising or skyhopping. The cockpit's dashboard includes a speedometer, tachometer, engine and air pressure gauges, and an LCD that displays live video from the dorsal fin's built-in camera. Vinyl seats with closed-cell foam upholstery and four-point racing harnesses ensure pilot and passenger safety.
