Cyprus Government and Greek Government seems to keep up on their decisions regarding the COVID 19 measurements. So far it looks like the common measurements lead both countries on a safe ground with the least human losses. On the field of yachting both countries more or less have announced the same decisions even though that Greece yachting life extends beyond the pleasure aspect. With more than 166 inhabited islands Greeks need to travel for physiological needs. As a first measurement both countries have allowed the use of small boats for either fishing or recreational reasons under specific criteria and actions. All other boats are not allowed to departure or arrive in any entrance port until the 21st of May. Greek government clarified all details regarding the use of boats on the 4th of May whereas today (6th of May) the Cypriot government is expected to give more details regarding this issue. However is expected that vessels that are not to be used for amateur fishing will not be allowed to exit any port or marina.
All vessels that will be used for recreational fishing have to send sms message and come out of the water on reasonable time from the time that they will sent the message.
The only exceptions will be if one of the following applies
Emergency and force majeure related to mechanical damage and other reasons related to the safety of navigation and the protection of the marine environment
Sea trials, in accordance with the provisions in force and the orders of the relevant Port Authorities
The supply of vessels with fuel, water and provisions
Shipyards for repair and execution of other related works. After the completion of the above works, it is allowed to sail for trips without passengers, either to the port of mooring or to another port, responsibility of the Master
Service exclusively for the purposes related to the security of critical energy infrastructures of the country.
