Heesen Yachts lays keel of 55m Steel superyacht Project Venus

Heesen Yachts has laid the keel of the new 55-metre YN 20655 yacht, Project Venus at Talsma Shipyards in Friesland, the Netherlands. This is the latest step in the production of the new Heesen 55m Steel superyacht, which will join her sister ships as one of the most successful designs in the Heesen fleet.

Heesen has long outsourced its steel fabrication to Talsma Shipyards as it allows the Oss yard to focus on its aluminium work without the risk of welding cross-contamination. “We are excited to celebrate this milestone in the construction of YN 20655, Project Venus,” commented Friso Visser, Heesen’s CCO.

“Our 55-metre Steel Series is one of the most successful in Heesen’s history. We pioneered the construction of superyachts on speculation in the 2000s with the launch of the 37-metre series.”

Project Venus features bold and masculine exterior lines by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects with a sturdy yet elegant profile. She oozes personality and features a distinctive ‘shark tooth’ motif hidden behind her wheelhouse windows. She is the third Heesen 55m to benefit from this model’s major restyling.

The 760 GT yacht is packed with all the latest features and design innovation with naval architecture from Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Luca Dini Design and Architecture worked closely with the shipyard’s engineers to optimise Venus’s layout and make best use of her internal volume.

Project Venus is able to accommodate up to 12 guests across six staterooms with a spacious owner’s apartment on the main deck. The 82 square-metre suite sports a French balcony on the starboard side, accessible via a sliding door. She also has a secluded outdoor seating area for her owners to enjoy their own private oasis.

Thanks to her steel Fast Displacement Hull Form, Project Venus is not only extremely efficient throughout her speed range, but also offers comfort and security in all sea conditions. She is equipped with twin MTU 4,000 M63 (IMO Tier III) engines that provide her with a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and provide a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.

“Today, we have mastered the art of building superyachts in series on proven engineering platforms and offer no fewer than five different designs ranging from 50 to 57-metres. At 55-metres, Venus is among our Crown Jewels,” added Friso Visser.

Project Venus, is the eighth in the successful 55-metre Steel Series with an expected delivery date of Spring 2025.
